A love affair with nature, a compulsion to push boundaries and an understanding that excellence is in the detail; I’m Lucy Poppi, Creative Director at Oh Poppi.

I’m sentimental, innovative, and deeply dedicated. I design with purpose and intent white honouring mother nature.

With a background in community and destination event coordination, I like to get into the nitty-gritty of the event details so I can take a holistic approach and ensure the services I provide work cohesively with other event elements and together, we can execute a refined event.

We generously embellish heartfelt celebrations to create splendid spaces and offer an experience you will hold onto for life.

Our styling inventory is extensive with great consideration given to sourcing unique and unexpected pieces and is only available to our floral clients. This allows for versatility and the potential for weaving layers of detail and individual personality into each celebration.

My life has always been entwined with flowers, ever since I was born. Technically, this blooming business began in 2019, but my flower tale started in a flower shop in Cairns, North Queensland decades ago.

It was the 80s, and fake plants were all the rage. Flower shop Green with Envy was renowned for its large, whimsical, and lifelike installations in restaurants, bars and corporate spaces. At the counter was my mother, Heather Poppi and on her hip, at her heels or in the cot out the back was me. And so began a tale grounded in nature and woven with flowers.

With a large family and rich Italian heritage steeped in extended familial gatherings, my love of celebrations, occasions and festivals is generational, passionately instilled by my Nonni - an incredible cook and avid gardener herself.

A diploma in art, a stint living abroad, and a devilishly handsome sugar cane farmer all have a hand to play in this tale. But to cut a long story short, I now live in Home Hill on the banks of the Burdekin River with my husband (said devilishly handsome farmer), my two children and a micro flower farm out the back. Cosmos, zinnias, dahlias, and scabiosa dance in the breeze while my children chase grasshoppers around the field – unfortunately, this isn’t quite my flower farm reality, but it sounds romantic, so I’ll leave it at that.

I’m a Sagittarius through and through – the ultimate empiricist. I’m deeply passionate, philosophical, and adventurous. I embrace the unexpected and seek out points of difference. I enjoy being challenged and the growth that comes with it. Expect honesty, always and a deep desire to create some memorable magic. I don’t do things in halves.

Change is in the air; it could be in the form of a seachange, or it could be a long-awaited and extended family adventure chasing flowers around this country. It could be both! I will be on sabbatical in 2024 to nurture my babies and feed my creative thirst in new and unexpected ways. I won’t be available for love projects during this time, but I am open to editorial and commercial enquiries.

Adventure awaits…
